Updates for 27/12/11

1) Ninja Fishing

A game that combines tilting and slashing~ worth playing if you are a fan of both =)

2) Action Movie FX

If you are looking for an app that can entertain your friends for a while, this is the one. Basically, you just use your camera to take a video, and this app helps you to add effects to the video. For free-users, there are only 2 effects, missile attack and car drop.

3) Broken Sword - The smoking mirror

I have played the "Broken Sword" series since they first appeared on NDS, and I think this is definitely a series worth playing. It's usually a nice storyline about some mystery, and you solve puzzles along the way to get closer to the answer. So.. definitely worth downloading~

Updates for 19/12/11

Finally, my busy week comes to an end, and I'm here once again to blog about new free apps~ I browse through the iTunes store and here are 4 apps that caught my attention:

1) Asphalt 6: Adrenaline

I have no idea why it became free again, and from the description in iTunes store, it did not say whether it is now free forever, or it is simply free for a limited time only. Whatever the case, I highly recommend this app! I downloaded it months ago when it was free for a while, and this 515MB app is one of the best car racing app I have played so far on my iPhone. The graphics is also good, and you control the car simply by tilting your iPhone, just like how you will steer your own car! Also, you can play multiplayer game over Wifi network, so... yeah.. i highly recommend this app!

2) iSafePlay

Ok, I personally have yet to try this app, but based on it's description, it looks like a pretty useful app:
Files safe, file disk, music player, youtube downloader, ringtone maker, video player. What's more, it claim to be $3.99 after 2011! So.. yeah... I decided to give this a try~

3) NyxQuest

I have been noticing this app for quite a while already in iTunes app store, as it appeared on the "New and Noteworthy" section. However, it was a paid app, so I couldn't try it. But now, FINALLY IT IS FREE FOR A LIMITED TIME! So, MUST DOWNLOAD. Lol. Yeah, after trying it out, I think it's a nice app to have~ You control this character called Nyx on a quest to find Icarus, and along the way, you need to solve "puzzles", like using your finger to move certain objects that block your path. So... do give this app a try~
4) Fara

For people who are looking for RPG games, this is another one that you can consider. I personally find the graphics slightly below expectation, but it's a slightly different style from the usual "D-pad + a few action buttons" kind of RPG, where all your actions is simply determined by tapping. I played the game for around 30mins, and I think it's worth a try for people who are bored of the usual RPG that I mentioned earlier.

Mini update for 171211

Just visited the iTunes store today, and guess what I found?

Monopoly Here and Now: World Edition is Free for limited time!

While I do already have a free app that's similar to Monopoly, called "Cash Catcher", there is no harm downloading this one, since it is FREE! So... yeah.. I haven't tried it yet as this weekend will be very busy for me, but... I believe it will be a good app~

Wun be updated for the next few days

So sorry, am currently busy with some personal stuff, so this blog will be inactive for these few days... yeah... meanwhile, I downloaded this game called "Dark Shrine 3D", because the thumbnail looks good, and the screenshots in the iTunes store looks promising. And most importantly, it's FREE FOR LIMITED TIME ONLY!

So.. yeah.. that's all the update for today~

Apps for 071211 and also 3 utilities apps to recommend~

Downloaded 3 apps today, haven't tried them yet, but downloading them first because, as usual, they are free for a while only:

1) Need for speed Undercover

A car racing app by the famous title, Need for Speed. I played the tutorial and the first stage, and I must say that there is a reason why the file is only 90+mb, as compared to the Asphalt 6 game that I managed to download for free when it first came out, which is much bigger. The controls are similar, you tilt your iPhone to steer, tap to brake. But NFSU have one more special feature, which is the slow motion feature, where you just swipe down while driving, and you get around 3 seconds of slow motion, particularly useful for steering out of oncoming traffic or preventing a crash. Yeah...

Anyway, back to the reason why it's much smaller, it's because the graphics is quite... lousy, in comparison to Asphalt. But the plus point is that there is a storyline in this game~ so.. if you are looking for a racing game that has a storyline, here is one app for you to download! =D

2) I am T-Pain 2.0

From what I rememeber, this is a auto-tune app, and I have always wanted an auto-tune app (you know, those kind of app that makes melody out from your normal sentences). So.. yeah.. I tried it... but it doesn't seem to be... impressive. -_- Maybe I will take more time to figure out it's potential...

* * * * * *

Ok, and I shall share 3 utilities apps that I found very useful so far:

1) Dictionary!

This app, as you can tell from the name, is a dictionary! And it does not require any internet connection to use once you have downloaded it! So.. yeah, have been using it once in a while whenever I need to find the meanings of new words. So definitely a useful app to have!

2) Google translate

Yup, an app by itself, google translate! But unlike the previous app that I mentioned, this one requires internet connection. And this one is for lazy people like me, who just want an app to translate language, instead of using safari to connect to google translate.

3) Scan

As QR code gets more and more common, obviously we need to have an app to scan those QR codes for us~ so.. ta-da~ Yup~ Nothing much to say about this app.

Apps for 031211

I was browsing through the iTunes store as usual, and came across a few apps that look interesting ad promising AND THEY ARE FREE (WERE FREE), so here goes:

1) The Sims Medieval and The Sims Freeplay

OMG, the Sims Medieval is FREE!!! And I'm pretty sure this is the full version too, instead of those "free trial version" where they only give you like 10% of the game content. I personally have not tried the game yet, but... come on, anything by The Sims can't go too wrong. =D

2) The Nightworld

I played through 3 stages last night, before I sleep. The graphics looks good, and basically you are this person living in this future, trying to go around stealing food. (Ok, that sounds stupid.. let me try again) Due to some reasons that are unknown to me, the future world is now covered in dark clouds (thus the name, Nightworld). Everyone is fighting to survive, and food is not readily available. Therefore, you play a character who goes around doing mission and earning $, and also getting food along the way. Also, you need to sneak past enemies (everyone else wants food too), or you can choose to take them down with your gun (can be bought) or sneak behind them and 1-hit KO them.

Worth trying this game out

 3) Book of Heroes

I got hooked on to this game for the past 2 days. It's something like a point and click RPG game, and you can choose to be a warrior, mage or assassin. The game goes by energy progress, meaning you have this fixed amount of energy that will regenerate every 5mins or so, and then you do quests (that cost energy) to progress with the story. I am personally not someone who like to play games that have such restrictions (like having to stop playing simply because your character ran out of energy), BUT this game somehow just attracts me. So... yeah.. I will definitely recommend this game too~

4) Absolute instant

Ever watched people playing fighter plane games in the old school arcade machine? It's something like that. And the special thing about this game is that your plane can teleport. So, when the enemies' bullet forced you into an impossible-to-escape corner, ta-da~ teleport out of danger!

Fun. I'm now left with 1 stage to completion~

5) Crimson: Steam Pirates

Downloaded it since it says "free for a limited time", based on the screenshots in iTunes store, it looks promising. The game look interesting, where you control this pirate ship on a turn-by turn basis. I only tried the first stage, where you will navigate the ship and fire at hostile forces and try to save an engineer for the ship. Will definitely keep playing this game~

6) Space Miner

Free for a while too I think, and it's by the creators of Book of Heroes, so... I downloaded it first. Will update this once I have started playing.

The list of apps that I will recommend if you just got an iPhone~

Ok~ so whenever my friends who just bought an iPhone ask me for recommendations, these are the apps that come into my mind, which I think are very very useful:

1) Facebook

Ok, this should be a no-brainer, but IN CASE you really forgot to download this app, then.. yeah.. here is a reminder for you to do it =D

2) USB Disk

This app make use of your iPhone storage space like a USB disk, so you can store any kind of files in it. Also, you can open most documents (PDF, word, excel, ppt, jpg...) on your iPhone with this.

I mostly use this apps for my readings, e-coupons (like the MacDonalds 1-for-1 deal) and word documents.

3) Bus@SG

Although there are other apps like SBS transit iris and my SG bus, I personally prefer bus@sg. It helps you check bus timings, and you can save bus stops as favourites~

4) SG Malls

The app that contain the directory of most, if not all, shopping centres in Singapore. Useful when you need to find certain restaurants in the shopping centres, or to know whether the shopping centre you are in have the specific shop that you are looking for.

Some of the shopping centres even have the floorplan provided, so you can even navigate using this app.

5) Flash Light

Ok.. It's always good to have an app to make your iPhone into a flashlight, so that.... you need not be afraid of the dark -_- there are ALOT of flashlight apps in the iTunes store, so just randomly download any of them. For me, mine is this app which have the option to turn on the light simply by clapping my hands. LOL. So... yeah.

6) MeRadio

An app that's useful if you like to listen to radio~ This one also provide lyrics for the songs that is currently on air, but it requires internet though~

7) Pudding Camera (the words are in Korean when you search this)

A very nice photo app to have, although I don't understand Korean, but I think this app should be easy to figure out by some trial and error~

8) Singapore Movie

Once again, there are a few apps out there which gives you the same function, like the Popcorn: SG Movie Showtimes , and such apps are useful because you can use them to search for movie timings instantly, as well as the cinemas that show the movies~

9) FAAD (free apps a day)

Ok, one of the reason why I know about so many apps is because of this app, along with a few others similar apps. Free apps a day, as its name suggest, recommends to you the free apps that are free for a period of time. As of now, I have downloaded almost 70% of my apps that were free for a while thanks to this app, like Whatsapp, The Sims, veggie samurai... So... if you are like me, download this app; if not, just check out this blog~

10) iBooks

Another very useful app to read documents or ebooks. I use this to read my readings too~

Ok... here are the top 10 apps that came into my mind. Do stay tune for more updates! =D

First post! The reason why this blog is set up~

Ok~ I would think the first post of this blog should be to state the reason why there is this blog in the first place. There are a few reasons actually, but I think the main reason of it will be to help my readers (if there are any) who are also iPhone users like me, to know about new iPhone apps out there, which are FREE. Of course, if you are a person who jailbreak your iPhone, then this blog will be half as useful, since I will probably only blog about free apps. As for how it can be useful... well, once in a while I will recommend apps that I like, so... even if you jailbreak your phone, you will still be able to see what are the apps that I recommend. So... yup~

I haven't thought of what style I will be using for this blog when I recommend the apps, so.. let's just see how things goes~
